Case Study

Client

Recognized as one of California’s most respected winegrowing families, the Miller Family is a fifth generation California farming family with agricultural roots on the Central Coast tracing back to 1871. They own 1,500 acres of world-class vineyards in the Paso Robles Highlands AVA and have a growing portfolio.

Project Scope

Miller Family Wine Company wanted a redesign of their Barrel Burner brand, which features a Bourbon Barrel Aged Cabernet Sauvignon and a Double Oak Chardonnay. The objective was to deliver a more sophisticated look, stand out on shelf amongst a rising trend, and reflect wines that are rich, intense, and oak-driven from Paso Robles. Inspired by the spirits category and cigar band aesthetic, which appeals to the brand's primary Millennial male status seeker consumer, I created a bold design that draws attention to the differentiating quality of the wines—it's oak-led profile. In-hand treatments like a woodgrain blind deboss and gold foil intricate details further enhance the premium perception of the brand.
